Oskar's OR Picks

Hi Friends!

As Tretorn's most savvy and trend-conscious mascot (sorry Karl, but you know it's true), I was assigned the task of spotting the latest and greatest at this year's Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. I met with dozens of vendors who were featuring new and exciting products. Here are some of my faves:

Crescent moon Snow shoes: This is the first snowshoe company I have seen that makes extra large snow shoes especially for bears. Okay, they aren't actually for bears, but they fit me perfectly!

Bear Hands: Now kids and adults anywhere can make their hands just like Oskar's! They are intended to be gloves to keep your hands warm in the winter, but why not sport them all year round to make your hands more attractive?

Sinner helmut and goggles: So the helmut wasn't exactly a perfect fit, but I loved the bright orange color. And the goggles looked great on me... a good option for the next time I hit the slopes!

Easton Tent: A great alternative to a cave for hibernation time.

Bear Bells by Silverfoot: I'm told you should wear these when camping and their jingling sound will let bears know that you are coming so they can keep their distance. Although I'm not sure who wouldn't want a bear to join them on their next camping trip- I for one make an excellent camping buddy.

Until next time!

Picks and Pics- Oskar is ready for OR!

Hi Friends!

I'm on my way to Salt Lake City to attend Outdoor Retailer. I'm very excited for the experience, as my busy schedule doesn't allow me to travel as much as a bear should. I'm hoping Tretorn won't work me too hard and will give me a chance to hit the slopes when I'm there!

I just wanted to tell you about all the exciting things Tretorn will be doing at Outdoor Retailer. First, as Outdoor Retailer is all about innovation, I'm going to be doing a special "Oskar's OR Picks" while I am at the show. During the 4 days of Outdoor Retailer, I'll share with you some of the neat and different products I stumble upon during my time there. I'll post them to Twitter from time to time (check us out- twitter.com/TretornSWE ) and share them in a blog post next week so you can experience the show with me!

Second- Since I'm grateful for the chance to be making so many new friends at the OR event, I'm having another photo contest! Attendees can stop by our booth, #29183W and snap a picture with me. These pictures will be posted to Facebook, and the photo that receives the most "likes" will win a very limited edition Tretorn longboard. Check out the image below. And be sure to check back on Facebook and vote for the pic you like the best (http://www.facebook.com/tretorn). You can view the contest rules and details here: http://store.tretorn.com/statics/a/11/ .

Finally, we'll be debuting a brand new display for the event! While I can't reveal the real thing until the big day (Thursday), below is a sneak- peek to give you an idea of what to expect! Very outdoorzy, ja? I might just move in, after OR...

To all of you that are attending OR, ses dar! (see you there!) For those of you that aren't, please keep checking back to live vicariously through me.

Skål!

Tis the Season for Collaborations

Hi again friends,

Earlier this week, I told you about a recent collaboration Tretorn did with The Tannery. Well I have one more exciting partnership to share with you- we teamed up with the highly regarded and unique Ace Hotel!

We worked with Ace Hotel to create an original version of out popular Strala boot. You can check it out on their website here: http://shop.acehotel.com/product/tretorn-strala-vinter/

Ace Hotel made sure no one confused this boot with any other Tretorns by splashing the outsoles with their signature tomato-red color. There are lots of other unique features- the left heel is branded "Tretorn" and the right "ACE HOTEL". And these boots even come with a message- "LET'S STAND TOGETHER" is printed on the insole.

The best part of these boots? They are very, very limited edition. Only 300 pairs are available- so get to the nearest Ace Hotel and grab them before they're gone!

Happy holidays!

TANNERY+TRETORN=TRUE LOVE

Hi Friends,

I wanted to share with you something exciting that Tretorn has been working on with Boston-based retailer (and long-time Tretorn friend) The Tannery.

We have worked together to create a special edition of our Arsta boot for their brand new Wilderness Workshop in Boston’s Back Bay. You can ooo and ahhh at it on their online store here: http://www.thetannery.com/ProductDetails.aspx?g=2&bid=284&mode=brand&pid=23417&sid=48603

The beauty of this boot is in the details: It has shield-shaped side panels, pine-cone patterned toe-caps and heels, and a removable buffalo-plaid foot bed. It also has warm micro-fleece lining- perfect for the outdoorsman in the winter time.

The Tretorn Arsta for the Wilderness Workshop comes in black and olive.
According to the Tannery, The Wilderness Workshop has “the look and feel of a large loft space with exposed brick and original wood beams, yet it is underground. Many of the fixtures are from local reclaimed wood to keep a natural balance between modern retail design and our New England heritage.” We’re very glad to be a part of the Tannery’s exciting new venture.

Now wouldn’t these make the perfect last minute Christmas gift? Especially for your best bear-friend? (Hint hint, Karl).

The Wilderness Workshop is located on the basement floor of TheTannery, 711 Boylston St. Boston.

Thanks for making me look good

Hello again,

Thank you to everyone who attended the shop or voted on Facebook for our photo contest last weekend. And thanks to our friends at Thrillist for making it all possible. I made so many new friends, and frankly, I have never looked better. See for yourself here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=466460755641&set=a.460220190641.242654.36700190641#!/album.php?aid=242654&id=36700190641&page=3

Congratulations to my dear friends Carlo Mirasol and Jenny Jiang who won the contest with 218 votes! Don’t we look adorable?

I will be joining Carlo and Jenny for a lovely weekend of skiing and spa-ing in the Catskills. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while and can’t wait to test out my new skis… wait, what’s that? I’m NOT going to the Catskills? Well I just assumed since I was also in the photo. No?

Well that puts a damper on things. But anyways I still had a great time, and would like to share with you a few highlights from the photo shoot:

My friend Lee and his dog friend, Sadie. Sadie thought she could scare me. Silly dog.

My favorite moment of the day. Kate, if you're out there- please return my calls. I’d like to have you over to my cottage to watch a Pretty Woman DVD and to cook you some Swedish meatballs.

What a great day. I so rarely get to show off my bear claws.

Happy Monday everyone!
